Suppose you dive into the settings on the doorbell. You can customise and tailor the doorbell to your needs. Most importantly, the zones for detection. This could be important because plants or trees in the camera's field of view could constantly trigger motion detection. And drain your batteries fast. So this feature allows you to zone them out, and the advanced option allows you to get even more precise with the zones.

You can also adjust the re-trigger time, the sensitivity, the clip length, and night vision infrared sensitivity if you have a security light that comes on when someone approaches. You could set this to low, but if it's incredibly dark at the front door, set it to high. And the video quality can be adjusted as well. Side note, these changes can impact the battery life, and the app warns you about this, so be mindful of that.

So here's why I think the blink doorbell is an exciting proposition. There are tiers of service available & you're given a choice.

You can buy just the doorbell & no sync module, & no cameras. And the doorbell can still connect to the internet directly, and you will still have access to video & audio from it, but only when the doorbell is pushed and nothing is stored.

But if you do get the sync module & I recommend you do. As you will have access the live view at any time, take thumbnail photos & store your clips locally onto a pen drive.
