Samsung Galaxy Edge - Colours & Upgrades Vs Galaxy S25!
I managed to get an early hands-on with Samsung's Galaxy Edge. So, I can now show you the new colours and the design differences that separate from the S25 series. As we go through it, I'll highlight all the important specs that need to be known. The first and most obvious difference when you look at the Edge is that at its thinnest point, it's 5.8mm, and it is instantly visibly a lot thinner than my S25 Ultra. And I have some thoughts on the pros and cons of this thinness.
A very important need to know is that this at launch comes in at £1099, placing just above the £999 S25 plus and just below the flagship Ultra. And if you stick around, I'll show you some photo and video samples of my Galaxy S25 Ultra. I'll even hook you up with some secret Samsung discount links if you like what you see and decide to get an Edge.
Titanium Black
First up is the Titanium Jet Black. Now, despite its name in some brighter light settings, it's more of a smokey black, in my opinion. The back of the phone is protected by that frosted Victus 2 glass that we've seen used before on previous flagship models. The titanium frame has a subtle metallic shimmer. Samsung's use of titanium vs regular S25's Armour Aluminium is a material upgrade.
The camera module is different. You still have the Samsung linear lens setup. Only with the Edge do you get two cameras, not three. The primary 200MP sensor is the same as that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, new, slimmer lenses are used here. The second camera is a brand new 12MP ultrawide. So there's no Telephoto. However, the primary sensor is big enough to crop a few times without losing too much detail.
This little camera step on the Edge has a metallic camera ring on top. It's not a floating camera ring like we see on the S25.Now, this is interesting. The depth of the two-step camera module is 4.2mm. That camera step is the same colour as the back glass, and if you look closely, you'll notice a metal rail around the outside, which is a nice touch. The power button & volume rocker placement are identical. Speaker placements, SIM trays, and antennas are all very similar.
Titanium Icy Blue
Anyway, the next one. Titanium Icy Blue. This has that nice metallic blue tint to it. It is easy to mistake it for silver in some scenarios. The titanium frame also has that blue tint. Although, I did mistake it for the natural titanium colour. Again, it depends on the light.
Now, you might be wondering about the display. I can tell you right now it's a good one. It's got a brand new gorilla glass ceramic 2 protecting it. Which is said to be more crack-resistant than the glass used on the regular S25. It's a 6.7 QHD+ Amoled, 2600 nits peak brightness. It is also a power-efficient LTPO with a 1 - 120Hz refresh rate. Bezels are ultra slim, and you have that camera bullet hole at the top.
The only aspect that might be considered a downgrade vs the S25 ultra display is that it doesn't have that anti-reflective finish. Apart from that, though, it's just as good.
Titanium Silver
Here's the third colour and my favourite based on first impressions. It is the Titanium Silver. The titanium frame colour nicely matches the Silverback Gorilla Victus 2 glass, given its almost full metallic look. Now, what you can't see is that inside. Something else impressive is that there's still room for the tailored TIM within the Samsung Edge's thin frame. Which is, of course, Samsung's optimised heat dissipation system.
Samsung has also sealed up the phone to meet the IP68 dust and water resistance standards. The overall weight is 168 grams; the S25 plus, for context, is 190 grams.
What About The Battery?
Two big questions about this that might spring to mind are. Does it bend? ,Unfortunately, I'm not rich enough to bend a £1100 phone in half & I didn't want to risk getting a Samsung KX,, so I guess you'll have to wait for the Jerry Rig video. Since it's so slim, what hashas Samsung done with the battery? Well, they have, of course, slimmed it down to 3900mAh. That's a 1000mAh less than the S25 Plus & the Ultra. And I'm told the battery type used is a Lithium Graphite cell.
How will this affect the battery life performance of the S25 series? Well, time will tell, and the Galaxy Edges chipset is one of the most efficient in the game & the same as the S25. It's the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which is its supercharged, most powerful version. Charging speeds are 25-wired, 15 Watts wireless & there are no Qi2 magnets inside, but there are cases available.
