The Most INSANE Camera Smartphone ( Huawei Pura 80 Ultra Unboxing )
Huawei Pure 80 Ultra – First Look & Unboxing
All right, it's finally here, the Huawei Pure 80 Ultra. And if you're wondering why this box looks like it's travelled across the desert to get here – well, that's because it has. This would officially be my first time seeing this phone in person. And I do know a thing or two about the tech inside here. Anyway, let's get this out of the box real quick. Huawei don’t partner up with Leica, Zeiss, or anything like that. They have their own XMAGE branding here. This particular version of the Pure 80 Ultra is the 512GB model with 16GB RAM. The colour here is Prestige Gold, and it does have a dual SIM tray.
Unboxing
This battered outer layer is actually just a cover for the inner box. I see this logo right here – that's the Kunlun Glass logo. So it's safe to say that’s going to be protecting the display on this phone.
Inside the box:
The Pure 80 Ultra phone itself
A 100W charger (USB-A & USB-C ports)
USB-C to USB-C charging cable
A monogram-style case with Huawei’s forward symbol and leather texture
Clear plastic edge around the camera cutout (to show off the module)
Paperwork (missing in my unit – probably lost in the desert!)
First Impressions
Straight away, you’ll notice this camera module might be the largest on any phone ever. It looks like a piece of jewellery with ridges and nice effects under the glass. Last year’s Pure had a moving lens feature, but this year, Huawei replaced that with something new and very interesting.
Design overview:
Side-mounted fingerprint reader (not in-display)
Infrared blaster + speaker grille up top
Another speaker grille at the earpiece
6.8" FHD+ 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display (1Hz – 120Hz refresh rate)
Bottom edge: speaker grille, USB 3.1 port, SIM tray
Dual SIM tray, no expandable memory
The phone feels premium, solid, and very reflective in its Prestige Gold finish.
Performance
I ran a benchmark, and here’s the score – not the highest out there, but respectable.
Chipset: Kirin 9020 (upper mid-range)
Battery: 5170mAh
Charging: 100W wired, Qi wireless charging, reverse wireless charging
Display glass: Crystal Armor Kunlun Glass with pre-installed protector
Camera System – The Main Event
The primary camera is a huge 1-inch sensor with a variable aperture (f/1.6 – f/4) that adjusts gradually. It takes 3 photos and stitches them together for HDR, even in video.
But here’s the game-changer:
Telephoto camera has a shifting lens that can move physically, giving 3.7x to ~10x optical zoom.
You can actually hear the lenses sliding when focusing at a distance – something I’ve never seen on a phone before.
Incredible zoom range, backed by AI sharpening.
Strong ultrawide camera.
13MP selfie camera.
Final Thoughts
This has been a quick look at the Huawei Pure 80 Ultra, Huawei’s flagship right now.
My first impressions:
Premium design
Huge focus on the camera system
Interesting innovations with the shifting telephoto lens
Impressive display and charging speeds
If you want a phone just for the camera, this one is definitely one to look at.
