Xiaomi 15 T Pro First Look & Unboxing

Xiaomi has sent me another T Pro phone. These phones tend to sit just below the flagships in the Xiaomi lineup. And something that really impressed me every year that I look at one of the TI Pro phones is the camera. just like the regular 15 and the ultra, Xiaomi have partnered up with Leica for the lens calibrations, coatings and also colour science.
This is a brand new phone sealed in the box, and I do know a thing or two about this, but first, let's get a look at the design. I've not actually seen it first hand just yet, so I'll give you guys my honest first impressions.

Design & Build

The official name of the colour is Pro Grey. This is the 12-gig version, and it's also got a terabyte of storage, which is crazy. Not only is that a flagship-level amount of RAM and ROM, but it's also the latest type as well. So it's Lpddr5 X and the ROM is UFS 4.1. This feels kind of hefty. And I get a feeling that there is, in fact, a case in here. And yes, there is. As well as a USB-A to USB-C charging cable.

It’s also got the official European rating card thing. It's a level "A" when it comes to efficiency. It's also a level for drop resistance and damage. And that's the new iPhone I just unboxed — that's got a level B. So that's kind of interesting. The case is nothing special, really. It's just a regular silicone case. Flexible, grey.

First Impressions

Here we have the phone itself. And as you can see, they highlight a bunch of the key specs right here on the wrapper.

  • Leica Summilux lenses

  • MediaTek 9400+ chip

  • Huge 5500 mAh battery

  • 90W wired & 50W wireless charging

  • Xiaomi HyperOS

The Xiaomi 15 T Pro looks like one solid piece of metal. I really like the finish. It looks like that kind of Beskar steel that The Mandalorian uses. You’ve got this nice diamond cut, chamfered edge right around the camera module. And even though there are four cutouts, there are actually three cameras.

The sides are pretty minimal:

  • Volume rocker and power button on the right

  • Speaker grill, SIM tray, and USB-C charging port at the bottom

  • Antennas on top

  • Blank left edge, similar to iPhone

It does have stereo speakers, though: downward at the base and forward-firing via the earpiece.

SIM & Storage

It has a dual SIM tray. There is no expandable memory onboard. But if you got this terabyte model, you're probably not going to need any expandable memory. My first impressions: it feels premium, looks premium, and the camera module layout is impressive.

Cooling & Performance

The Xiaomi 15 Pro uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus three-nanometer chip. It also features the new Xiaomi 3D Ice Loop cooling system.

Thermal readings showed:

  • Hottest temp at 39°C after 20 minutes (very good compared to others at 45°C)

  • Heat wrapping around the camera module and dispersing evenly

  • Battery temp maxed at 43°C, but managed well

Performance was stable during stress testing with only a small frame rate drop at loop 18 before bouncing back.

Xiaomi Astral Communication

Brand new in Europe - The Xiaomi 15 T Pro can communicate with other Xiaomi devices up to 1.9km away without data or Wi-Fi. It’s exclusive to Xiaomi devices right now.
